Performance requirements of sports wood flooring

Sports wood flooring shoulders the responsibility of providing athletes with a safe and comfortable sports environment

so it has strict performance requirements. In terms of load-bearing performance, it needs to have a strong bearing capacity to cope with the heavy pressure generated by many athletes exercising in the venue at the same time. Whether it is the frequent jumping and sudden stops of multiple people in fierce basketball competitions, or the intensive footsteps in large-scale dance performances, sports wood flooring must maintain structural stability without deformation, collapse, etc.
Impact absorption performance is one of the core performances of sports wood flooring. When an athlete jumps from a high place and lands, a huge impact force acts on the floor instantly. High-quality sports wood flooring should be able to quickly absorb at least 30% – 50% of the impact force, just like adding a layer of soft protective pad to the athlete’s feet and joints, effectively reducing the impact load on the body, and greatly reducing the incidence of sports injuries such as muscle strain, joint sprain and bone injury caused by impact.
Accurate control of the friction coefficient is crucial. The friction coefficient of the surface of the sports wood floor must be strictly maintained in the range of 0.4 – 0.7. If the friction coefficient is lower than 0.4, the floor will be too smooth, and athletes will easily slip when running fast, turning or stopping suddenly, which will seriously affect sports safety; when the friction coefficient is higher than 0.7, the floor will appear too sluggish, which will hinder the athlete’s pace during movement, consume too much physical strength, and cannot flexibly and smoothly complete various technical movements, thus affecting sports performance.
In addition, for the wooden floor of the ball sports venue, the ball rebound performance cannot be ignored. Taking the basketball court as an example, the sports wooden floor must ensure that the basketball has more than 90% ball rebound ability, so that the rebound height, speed and trajectory of the basketball meet the rules of the game and the athlete’s usage habits, helping athletes to better control the ball and smoothly conduct the game.
